Firas Jaber, Chairman of the Board

Firas Jaber is a co-founder of and current researcher at AlMarsad, a political, social and economic observatory in Palestine. He has completed several studies and published multiple books, supervised a series of public opinion polls and a number of survey-based research studies. He is a member and a leader of research teams in studies related to needs assessment studies, capacity building, participatory applied studies and gender related issues. He also conducted several studies on development in the Arab world, in cooperation with specialized Arab research institutions and has worked as a social expert with a consulting firm that worked with the Municipal Development and Lending Fund on developing strategic plans.
He has good experience in preparing training materials about social participation and social risk management. Firas was the former Director of Research at Bisan Center for Research and Development. He joined Al-Mada as a consultant researcher and a member of the Board of Directors.

Marim Soliman, Member Communications

Marim Soliman is Executive Director at El-Mahrousa Center for Socioeconomic Development (MCSD), an Egyptian developmental organization that aims to enhance respect for socioeconomic rights through training programs, human rights education, civic education, developmental interventions, and service delivery. The Center employs both conventional tools, such as direct trainings, along with the newly available technological innovations, i.e., e-learning and new social media, to support its programming. Overall guidance for the Center’s activities comes from its members strong conviction that human rights and practical, hands-on, actions are the prime tools to achieve socioeconomic rights and equality for all members of the Egyptian citizenry.

Suhaib Albarzinji, Treasurer.

Mr. Suhaib Albarzinji is an international development consultant specialized in the Middle East and North Africa. Currently he is the executive director of AlMuntaha Foundation and serves as treasurer and board member for Nawat – The Arab Institute for Policy and Research. From 2010 to 2015, he was the Executive Director of the Network of Democrats in the Arab World (NDAW), an organization that promotes cooperation and resource-sharing between civil-society initiatives throughout the region. Prior to that, and for five years, he was the Program Officer in charge of managing the Center for International Private Enterprise‘s largest and most visible portfolio – Iraq, Jordan, Yemen and the Gulf. He implemented numerous large and innovative development and economic-reform projects that responded to the needs of a demanding environment. Prior to CIPE, Mr. Albarzinji worked for over 10 years in the field of media development and the use of media in grass-roots empowerment and advocacy. Mr. Albarzinji has a BS in Finance and Banking, an MA in Mass Media, and is an American of Iraqi origin currently residing in the Washington, DC area.

Hayat Drai, Vice-Chairman

Drai is the Vice-Chairman of Nawat Institute and the President and founding member of the Center for Humanities Studies and Research (MADA) – Morocco. She has completed several studies along with being a member of the editorial board of Rihanat, a cultural periodical of MADA. Since 1998, Drai has been coordinating workshops on democratization, citizenship and building capacities of civil society. She is in charge of coordinating and connecting civil society organizations since 2003.
In July 2014, Drai got her PhD in Political Communication from Hassan II University, Morocco.

Jamal Mohammed Al Khatib – Secretary of Nawat Institue

Director of Al-Badeel Center for Studies and Research, established in 2006, an independent research institution, concerned with research and democratic development and training, and is concerned with issues of social and economic development and issues of political modernization, deepening research and accumulation of knowledge, and promote dialogue and convergence between different views, promote democratic awareness among opinion through the dissemination of a culture of human rights, through the participation of women and youth, and working to develop various legislation, and countering extremism and terrorism in all its forms.
Jamal is a Writer and researcher specialized in political development and human rights issues, he has more than 100 published articles including (research, study, book, policy papers and training manuals)
He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association, a member of Writers Association of Asia, Africa and Latin America, a Member of the Arab Writers Union, the Secretary of the Civil Society Organizations Network & a Writer in Afkar magazine, published by the Ministry of Culture in JordanJamal has received many international and local certificates in the field of training of trainers in the development of awareness and training of youth and women. He studied law at Beirut Arab University and majored in international relations
